I've had my differential rebuilt three times because the suspension "hops" particularly when turning corners on acceleration. It sometimes does it when accelerating in a straight line.

Now, it seems to shudder when stepping moderately on the brakes also. I'm wondering if something else is loose under there. Brakes are not the issue. No obvious parts loose or falling off. Last time I towed my car trailer it would hop occasionally, but I thought it was an issue with the trailer loading or trailer brakes. Now, I'm not so sure.

It kind of feels like the rear end might be moving around under the truck. Any easy way to tell or any other thoughts. As it is right now I'm reluctant to haul my trailer. I bought this new but this has been an ongoing situation.

You could get traction bars from Moe's. Put them on my bee a long time ago for drag racing and they worked real well for wheel hop or anything going on back there. Wroth the new Ram I put on after market springs and that settled that down a lot on that truck too. Also did it to lower the back end to level and not look like a 4X4. It worked there also.

I've got a set of Moe's traction bars under it. Love them. That helped some when I put them on a few years ago.

Do you feel the shudder only while braking? Do you feel in the front or rear of the truck?

It shudders on braking and acceleration, but not at cruise speeds. I feel it in the entire truck.

Sounds like a u-joint or pinion bearing going bad.

Turned out to be a front wheel bearing disintegrating. Had to replace the hub and bearing. Same thing happened on the other side two years ago with no symptoms until the noise started.
