Roger - sorry to hear about the truck but at least you're alright. That one could have been alot worse if you had been up to full highway speed.

Damn Sub..

Lucky you didn't lose control or get hurt in that!

Your tranny looks ok - maybe some dirt in the opening but it doesn't really look like it. What probably happened is that you may have had a U Joint go bad and it probably exploded or just fell apart causing your driveshaft to wabble in the rear end joint and causing the clamps to fracture. It could have been the torque but in looking at the pict, the yoke end on the diff - the busted loops are too clean and too new to be the torque. If it was the torque, you'd have cracks or a crack in those areas and it would have taken a while before the breakage - thus the apparently clean breaks are too shiny - otherwise one or more would be dark and dirty.

Did that make sense? LOL

I lost myself somewhere in the middle of that!

good thing is its only the yoke and not the rear end housing, time to upgrade to nitrous driveshaft and yoke........
www.dennysdriveshaft.com
or maybe its www.dennysdriveshafts.com
they specifically make for racing applications, nitrous, blowers

Did you have a flat bed tow your truck?
Is it possilble to use a regular wrecker?
Glad to hear that you're o.k.

I just turned 15,000 miles this week. No, I wasn't spraying at the time.

I think I've figured it out. I torque it up so much for my launches, I
think it probably just caused a fracture(s) in the bracket (at the diff)
and going at that speed the driveshaft was just turning so fast (causing all the heat) that it was just it's time to "snap".

Thanks Mango, I'll now look into getting the upgrade drive with the links you posted. Definitely need it the way I power brake and torque it up so aggressively and often.

Lesson learned for all of us that like torque and burn-outs...
get under and check out the plate once in a while for fractures.
It's obviously a weak point.

Got prices from the dealer...
Driveshaft $255.00
Rear Flange/Yoke $39.00

Still looking for a strong aftermarket though. Trying to see
if they make the bracket in Billet or if I can get one made.

BTW~ It was a regular tow truck. Not a rollback. No damage.
