OK, Planning is now underway for the Sixth Annual Division 1 Skyline Drive Cruise!

We'll be Cruising this year on Saturday, the Thirtieth of October.

Join us for a Leisurely Cruise North to South on Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah Valley, We'll be Meeting in Front Royal, Virginia, between 8 AM-9 AM on the 30th of October, Leaving our meeting point, at 9 AM, and proceeding south along Skyline Drive which offers some fantastic views of the Shenandoah Valley.

Cost: There is a $15 charge per car to enter the Park. I will pick up passes before we meet at the Super 8, and you can get them there, We found this greatly speeds up getting in the park. The passes are good for 7 days, so if you arrive Friday, or stay thru Sunday, you'll only need one pass.

Map of the park:
http://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/upload/whole_park.pdf

We will stop at Big Meadows, approximately 50 Miles south of Front Royal for Lunch and Photo Oppurtunities. Bring Your Lunch! There is also an Aramark "Wayside" right at big meadows that offers some decent picnic type food, if you don't want to carry lunch with you.

Around 1:00 we will turn around and head back north, and have dinner in Front Royal after we get back.

The Super 8 Motel in Front Royal still has rooms and is pretty close to the North Entrance (In Fact, we'll be in their parking lot as the meeting point...);

SUPER 8 MOTEL - FRONT ROYAL
111 South Street
Front Royal , Virginia 22630
United States
540-636-4888

If you book On Line at http://www.super8.com The rate is $74.50 again this year, But I ran it thru expedia real quick, and they returned less for the same room at the same hotel, so you may want to run thru some of the travel sites for the best rate. We strongly urge you to get your room reserved as soon as possible, as lodging around Skyline Drive is difficult to get in the fall, and rooms are usually all booked well before leaf peeping season starts, reservations can generally be canceled as late as 24 hours before coming with no fee, but make sure that is the case if you book the room thru anyone other than Super 8 itself.

If you are considering Camping in the park, you will need to check availability of sites (Reservations are required), For more information, goto http://www.nps.gov/shen/1b1.htm

For Tent and RV camping near the entrance, I've stayed at the campground below and will be this year too.

Front Royal RV Campground
P.O. Box 274, Front Royal, VA 22630
1-540-635-2741
http://www.frontroyalrvcampground.com/default.asp
(They have spaces free right up to the date, so you shouldn't need a reservation)

If you have a set of public band Walkie Talkies, please bring them along, they are a tremendous help in keeping the cruise together!

Below is the attendee list for Skyline Drive 2010. I will bee updating this top message as users are added, so what you see here should always bee current up to the last 24 hours. If you are coming to the Cruise, Please post here with all the information shown in the table below.

Hey Zuke,

You can update your chart to show us staying through Sunday. Looking forward to the cruise and hoping more folks join us for the cruise. Being one of the new "Bee's", I missed out on all of the fun you guys had years ago, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I have finally figured out where you all got some of your interior mods and I am working on trying to get mine more modified.

Jerry

Doug,

Let me know when you are heading down and your route of travel. Maybe we can hook up somewhere and follow each other down, depending on your route of travel. Not sure where Birdsboro is in PA. I would be catching I-81 at Carlisle, PA and heading south.

Hey Joe,

Is the misses bringing any of those cookies along that I kept hearing about heading up to the Carlisle show. I never did get to taste those cookies. I was too busy drinking the beer that I brought for you. Very Happy

Hey

Is it October yet? I am looking forward to this and am quite anxious. Too bad we can't all get together sooner and do something. Some of my work travel has gotten pushed back to the end of the year so now I have more time on my hands to do things.
